Well, crap. I just read my post from last night & discovered that I wrote that Emma weighs 10 pounds 5 ounces, but this is not true. She weighs 10 pounds 15 ounces, so really she probably weighs 11 pounds. Sorry.

I'm still sick. I woke up this morning to my fever breaking (I was just dripping in sweat, pleasant, I know). I felt better once it broke, but started to feel bad again the closer to my next med dose I got. I took it about 45 minutes ago, but it hasn't kicked in yet, so I'm still feeling bad. My throat is still sore & I have a headache & just feel tired.
Emma is taking a nap, which is good because she's been so grouchy because she was tired. I have a feeling she'll be waking up any minute to eat, so I have the bottle ready & sitting right beside me.
My plan for the rest of the afternoon is to do my internet reading & then watch tv. Thus, I will be a big couch potato all afternoon, but the doctor yesterday did say I needed to rest to get better, so I'm simply following orders....
Although I did just do a ton of laundry & pick up the kitchen....

I'm still sick, but the doctor gave me all sorts of good drugs to help me feel better. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I don't want my sweet girl to get sick :(

Emma had shots on Thursday. She did really well considering & calmed down pretty quickly after the shots. She now weighs 10lbs 5 ounces, which puts her in the 50th percentile for weight, so I guess she's perfectly normal. She's 22 1/2 inches, so 54th percentile in height. She's growing like a weed.

I'm exhausted, so I'm going to head to bed.

I'm sick. Sore throat & fever. Going to the doctor this afternoon. Will update soon.

She's awake & wants to eat again.... Heaven help me...

Difficult Day...

Today has been kind of rough. Emma acts like she wants to eat, starts sucking on her bottle, then stops & falls asleep & stops eating. I take the bottle out of her mouth. She freaks out & wants it again. I put it back in. Repeat. I then tried to replace the bottle with the paci, but that didn't seem to work either. She figured it out. She's a smart one, that kid.
Now, she's sleeping next to me, after having an absolute fit & eating maybe an ounce of milk. Whatever. I guess some days babies just don't eat as much. I'm sure she'll make up for it once she wakes up.
It's hard sometimes because there's nothing I can do for her, yet there's so much I need to do. I had to empty the dishwasher & reload it, so I would be able to pump, so I would be able to feed her. Not to mention the laundry & house cleaning that really need to be done. It's hard to know if I should just keep holding her & trying to help her quit being upset or if I should just let her cry for a little while for my own sanity. The problem is, listening to her cry isn't good for me either. It's hard to know what to do when she's being like that.
I am glad to have a few minutes of silence for the moment. I'm pumping, so really everything I do all day is for her anyway, even indirectly.
We went to the mall with Shelly yesterday who is getting married in less than 4 weeks! (Wow, that's SO SOON!) Emma was horrible the first part of the trip. She is usually such a good shopper, she'll sleep & we'll stop to feed her & she'll eat, & then she'll go back to sleep. Yesterday, she fussed because she had a blow out, so I got to change my first diaper in public yesterday at Macy's - woo-hoo. Then she woke up to eat right after we had finished lunch & we about to go shopping again. So I feed her some & then she falls asleep, so we get going. By the time we're back to shopping, she's woken up & decided she wants to eat more. So I have to feed her again & she falls asleep again. Then repeat. It's really hard to help shop when she keeps wanting to eat all the time, yet doesn't. I'm not sure what her deal is right now. I guess it sounds a lot like today. The day ended up being ok, we got some good shopping done & Shelly bought everything she needed, so that was good. And I bought a new denim skirt & top, so that was exciting.
Anyway, I promised a few pictures from Emma's "photo shoot" on Monday, so here they are!





At least I know she's happy & sweet sometimes! Days like today are just hard :(

Happy (Belated) Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers! I enjoyed my first mothers day, but didn't get much sleep. Emma was off schedule from a busy Saturday, so she woke up just before 1am wanting to eat (she normally doesn't get up until 7am). Once we got her put back down & went back to sleep, we woke up around 3:30am to a huge boom of thunder along with the power going out for about 3 hours. At that point I realized it wasn't meant to be for us to get much sleep that night!
I got up around 7:15 & ate a yummy breakfast that my sweet husband made me. Then, got ready & off to church. After church we went out to lunch with my parents (mexican - yum!). Came home & attempted a nap, but Emma didn't want to nap unless she was being held, so much for that. Then visited Nene (my grandmother) & off to see David's family at his brother's house. Grilled chicken & yummy strawberry cake. We hung out awhile & took a cute family photo, which was a complete mess to take with our 2 year old nephew running around.
Today I ran an errand & then did lots of laundry & another small project. Oh, and I took Emma's 2 month old pictures! She's 2 months old today! I've gotta go, but I will post a couple 2 month pictures soon.

She's sleeping... :)

Today has been quite good so far!! We woke up just before 7, I fed her & watched American Idol from last night, changed her, got myself ready. She fussed (tired, but fighting sleep), so I put her in the swing & she went to sleep. Did laundry, dishes, fixed dinner & put it in the crock pot (I rock!). I then got the diaper bag ready for our afternoon out. She woke up, so I changed her & fed her. Changed her outfit for the second time. Now, she's sleeping & I made myself lunch & ate it.

I'll be feeding her again around 12 & then we're headed to David's Bridal to help my friend Shelly try on her wedding dress after alterations. Hopefully Emma will fall asleep in the car (she usually does) & be good.

I've thought a little about finding a job & yesterday I was very close to applying for something. Then I remembered how terrible it would be to leave her & how much I would miss her & that I'm just not ready...at least not yet. I guess it's good to know that maybe it will be an option down the road, but at this point she is too young & I'm just not ready to leave her. There's no way I'm sending her to daycare, at least not this young, & my mom can't really quit her job & keep her for about another year. Not to say that is definitely what I will be doing, but it is an option. I really don't know. The money would definitely be nice & really I'm afraid that if I wait too long to use my degree, I won't be able to get a job in my field at all, if I want to. I guess that's the biggest thing: I feel like I need to get a job soonish so I can use my degree down the road. I kind of planned on going to work after my kids are in school, but that will be years from now & I'm afraid it will be too late. I keep praying about it & I know that if I'm supposed to get a job, I will know it & it will almost fall into my lap, letting me know it's meant to be. Plus, the whole childcare thing will be taken care of. I'm sorry this is totally a ramble & doesn't really make any sense. To summarize, I may be open to looking for a job in the future, but as of right now, I'm not ready to leave Emma.

Busy life!!! I hardly ever have time to do anything except try to keep my head above water... or wash my hair, whatever the case may be :)
Life these days are a never-ending cycle: eat, change, sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat. She's taking a really good nap this afternoon, thank goodness, & I've had time to clean both bathrooms, dust our room, change our bed, & do some laundry. I'm hearing her waking up, though, so I'll have to cut this short. Let me see if I can find a picture real quick...

This week is thankfully kind of calm! We've been pretty low key the past couple days, today being the busiest. My friend Leah came over & we went to lunch at Applebee's & came back & hung out. I love it when she has days off work!
Just wanted to check in real quick. I took a picture of Emma today in her sunglasses, but need to load them on my computer. I'll try to do that tomorrow!

She Found Her Thumb!!

My sweet girl has been sucking on her hand for a few days now. She like puts her whole fist up next to her mouth & tries to suck on it.

Happy Earth Day!

Yeah, so it's Earth Day. We celebrated by sitting (me & Emma) out on our patio while David cooked hot dogs on the grill. Yummy!
This was probably the longest Emma has ever been outside & I think she liked it. We probably sat out there for a good 30 minutes & the weather was perfect. It had cooled off a lot & was just beautiful. There were a few bugs though, which sucks.
Today we went to this lady's house who is making the dresses for the wedding David & I will be in in June. Since I had been rather pregnant, she was able to wait until now to measure me for my dress & start making it. Thankfully, my part is now done, so she can get started. June is really coming up quick! Yikes!
We're throwing my cousin a baby shower on Saturday. She is due July 9th & they aren't finding out if it's a boy or girl until the big day.
We have a visitor coming over tomorrow to meet Emma for the first time! I can't wait to see Brookle!!

Ok, so it's been awhile

Emma will be 6 weeks old on Wednesday! I can hardly believe it! The past 6 weeks have honestly gone very quickly, I don't think I've ever been so busy in my life. Ok, I probably have, but this is really insane.
She is doing great, growing like a weed. We went to the Dr last week & she now weighs 9 pounds 8 ounces. She has such cute chubby cheeks.
My house is an absolute wreck. I've basically been doing the necessities (laundry & dishes) & let everything else go because honestly there isn't enough time. Today I actually had time (barely) to clean both bathrooms, so I'm really happy about that. My goal for the week will be to clean the rest of the house, but we'll see how that goes.
We went to a movie this weekend, which was HUGE for us! We took Emma to the Drive In (yes, there is still one in Atlanta, but its kind of in the ghetto). We saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was funny, but very vulgar. It would have been a lot better if it didn't have as much dirty humor. Emma, however, was perfect & slept through the whole event.
I guess it's only fair that I leave you with a picture for my long absence.

She's Here!

So I'm very sorry about the lack of updates. High blood pressure towards the end of my pregnancy ended me up in the hospital for an induction 2 1/2 weeks early.

Emma Rose was born March 12th at 11:48pm & is able to share her birthday with her Papa with only 12 minutes to spare! Papa is thrilled to death!

She was 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 21 1/2 inches long. Everyone is doing well & we are trying to get some sleep when we can.

Back's killing me. Tried everything. Calling chiropractor Monday if doesn't get better. Ready to be done. 4 weeks tomorrow till Due Date.

Busy busy!

So sorry it's been rather long between posts. The past few weeks have been rather productive though! This makes me very pleased :)

Emma's nursery has been painted & her furniture is in place. Room-wise, David still needs to finish painting & re-hang her closet doors. Pictures, a shelf, & the letters for her name need to be hung & we're good to go. I still need to whip out her dresser drawers & put all her blankets & sheets & such in her drawers, & then we'll be pretty well set. We had our first two showers the past two weekends (three to go, yikes!), so in between I've been washing all sorts of laundry & trying to keep up with thank you notes. This child is so spoiled & I can't even tell you how well-dressed she's going to be! I can't wait for her to get here so we can try all her new stuff out!

Last week, I was called to serve on jury duty. It went fine & I was only there for Monday & half day on Tuesday. For jury duty, you get divided up in panels & wait in the jury room for your panel number to be called, so you can go in & be interviewed for a case by the lawyers. This week, not a single panel was ever called because all the cases opted for other options (go in front of just the judge, a settlement, etc). I guess that's probably a good thing, but it made jury duty incredible boring & made us feel unnecessary. Oh well. I made it & will be off the list for a year, thank goodness!

Our new nephew was born this past Thursday & we got to go meet him on Friday evening. He is such a cutie & so so sweet!

I can't believe there's less than 7 weeks until my due date! Emma will be here before we know it!

Nesting....

I think I'm on the nesting phase. We were very productive with working on Emma's room this weekend. We ordered her furniture (should be here in 7-14 days), her bedding came (which I LOVE...Yay, Pottery Barn Kids!), David cleaned out her room a lot & then I did quite a bit too.

Her stuff is all moved to one wall now, so we can see what we have left to do. She's got a lot of stuff for a person that isn't even here yet...

Yesterday I started taking stars & planets off her ceiling. The previous owners put them up for their kids, but the ceiling is really looking bad & needing to be painted. We decided we would remove the stars & planets, so we could paint. Plus then the ceiling wouldn't be such a pain for future owners (we may put our condo on the market sometime this year). Just word to the wise.... do not put stupid stars & planets on your ceiling, ever! They are a pain in the butt to take off! I've taken off parts of the ceiling because some of the putty holding them up had gotten too old & too hard. Some of the other putty is gooey & blue, so poor David will have to paint multiple coats on the ceiling! Ugh! Not to mention the fact that I'm 7 months pregnant & standing on a step ladder & scratching my knuckles on the textured ceiling...

So plan for today: take a shower, do laundry, work on taking off more stars, start organizing sections of the kitchen cabinets (see, nesting!)

Baby Bedding!

The baby bedding has finally arrived! This makes me super excited, as you can imagine. Now we need to pick out paint, order furniture, & clean out her room. Lots still to do, but at least we have the basic colors & theme now.

I had a drs appt this week & had to get a blood glucose test & complete blood screen. I passed the blood glucose with no problem (yay! no gestational diabetes! whew!), but my complete blood screen results freaked me out a little. From what I can tell, I may be anemic (low iron). The results were online, so I haven't spoken to the drs office yet. I figure if they were really worried, they'd call me. Otherwise, I'll just plan on talking to them about it at my next appt. Also, my white blood count was up a little, so I'm probably fighting something off, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just means I need to take it kind of easy (which overall, I have been!)

I got a summons for jury duty, which is kind of a bummer. It's February 4th, so I'll be 32 weeks pregnant. I'll look rather pregnant, so I assume I will not get picked for a jury. However, it will probably make for a pretty miserable day. Oh well, at least this will mean I won't get called again for awhile, so I guess that's good. Better to do it now than with a newborn.

I'll be 29 weeks pregnant tomorrow, so only 11 weeks until my due date. It's really coming up fast, we've got a lot of work to do! Showers will be starting the first week in February, so I know I'll be really busy!!

David has his guitar out & needs help getting it tuned. I'm about to go get out my violin & help him out a bit!

It's a New Year!

Hope everyone had a super Christmas & New Years! We certainly did & as always, we were reminded how truly blessed we really are! We got to spend lots of time with family & friends, which is always wonderful. David was off Monday & Tuesday for Christmas, worked Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday after Christmas & then was off Monday & Tuesday for New Years, so I was sad for him to have to go back to work yesterday... I think he was a little sad too.

So now what? Well, seeing how Miss Emma is supposed to arrive on March 29th, give or take 2 weeks, we've got a lot to do! Her room hasn't really been started at all. However, we do have her travel system (her carseat, carseat base, & stroller) as well as her high chair, along with some clothes, toys, bibs, etc. So I guess the goal between now & B-Day is get her room ready!

We still have to clean out her room.... It isn't looking too good right now with boxes & other miscellaneous items taking over the room. These things need to be sorted out & a) thrown away, b) given away, or c) put away by finding a place for it in our house (unlikely) or put in the attic. In order for things to be put in the attic, the attic needs to be reorganized so there's room for everything. This means going through some boxes in the attic (what fun!) & condensing/throwing things out. Yuck! This will go into full swing very soon!!

Thankfully, we have decided on & ordered her bedding, so now her room has an official color theme. Obviously, Emma's quilt will be crib size, but there isn't a good picture of it on the website. I ordered her bedding last night, so we should receive it in a week or two (the actual quilt is on backorder until January 9th). I also ordered 3 throw pillows because we are leaving a love seat in her room (it has a denim blue cover). The pillows will go on the couch & help tie everything in.

Next, we need to order her furniture. We picked some out at Babies R Us, so we need to go order it & have it delivered! Hopefully this will happen over the weekend/the first part of next week. That way, if it takes a little while to have it delivered, we'll still have plenty of time.

Her room will need to be painted. I decided I wanted to go with a pink & green theme, so since her bedding has a lot of pink, her walls will be green. Once the bedding arrives, we will pick a paint color. David loves to paint, so he'll take care of that!

Obviously there's a lot more to do: decorate her walls with pictures, shelves, etc, set everything up, wash all her clothes, etc. Oh yeah, and we're having a couple showers, so we'll have to figure all that out.

Sorry this is so long. I guess it was more for me than for you anyway. However, I will certainly update with pictures once the nursery is underway!
