It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!!!

So it's almost Christmas. Are you done shopping? No? Well, get on the ball!!! I think my husband has a couple more things to pick up, one of which is for my brother-in-law, but besides that, we're done! Woo-hoo!

Christmas festivities are in "full swing" here. Today, we're headed to my great aunt's house to enjoy a yummy lunch with my mom's extended family (her aunts, uncles, cousins, & their kids). It will be a full house, but is always fun, we do it every year, just at a different house. I'm bringing sugar cookies because I rock :) (And I'm lazy).

Monday (Christmas Eve), we're having Christmas lunch with my mom's best friend (who I'm named after... my middle name Allison) & her husband & kids. We always have a good time with them. Then we're off to David's family to have Christmas with my in-laws during the evening. This is a first this year, but hopefully it'll be fun!

Christmas Day we're planning to have Christmas together at home when we get up & then head to my parents' to have Christmas with them & my brother (awww, my baby brother is home from North Carolina! I get to see him today! I'm soooo excited!!!). Then we'll have Christmas with my grandma (Nene) & aunt, uncle, & cousins (mom's side). Then I'm thinking we'll see my dad's siblings at some point, but haven't heard the final word. It'll be a busy day, but last year we did all this & saw David's family too. Yikes!

Then a couple down days. Shopping on Wednesday, drs appt on Thursday, waiting for our new washer & dryer on Friday. This weekend, David's aunts & uncles & cousins & grandparents are coming in town (starting Thursday night) & will be in town until the first part of next week (Monday, Tuesday ish). We'll get to enjoy them next weekend & we can't wait. His parents are going to have a pretty full house!!

I guess that pretty much sums up what we'll be up to. Hope you & yours have a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year! Enjoy the time with your family & remember the reason for the season! Love to all!

We're home!

Chicago was wonderful! We really had the best time. Except it was totally freezing the whole time, but whatever.

We flew in Wednesday night & quickly got our rental (with GPS!) & headed off to our hotel. We stayed on the Riverwalk & it was really pretty & a nice view from our window.

Thursday, Thanksgiving, we took it easy. We walked to breakfast in the snow, which was beautiful. It snowed most of the day on Thursday. We drove to Indiana (about an hour away) to see where my husband was born & lived until he finished 1st grade & moved to Atlanta. We saw his old house, his elementary school, & places he used to go. We then went to The Dunes, which is by Lake Michigan. Did you know Lake Michigan looks like the ocean? Because seriously, I sure didn't. I was very impressed & the dunes were really neat.

Friday, we walked from our hotel to The Sears Tower & went up in it. It was a really pretty day, so we were able to see a lot of the city from up above. On our walk back, we went to Millennium Park which has all sorts of interesting art sculptures outside. There were actually a few metal pieces that we saw on our honeymoon in upstate NY two years ago. Then we drove around a lot.

Saturday, we took the Free Trolley! to the Field Museum of Natural History. It is a HUGE museum, but our favorite parts were the animals & Sue. Sue is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found. We bought Baby a "Sue" t-shirt. Then we drove around some & caught a movie (Dan In Real Life--very very good).

Sunday, I was feeling sick, so we kept it pretty low key. We drove to a park outside the city & saw more of the big lake. Drove around a bunch that day. Ended up seeing another movie (Beowulf in 3D) & headed back to the hotel. We saw a few more snowflakes in the parking lot at the theater.

Monday, we sadly flew home. We actually had pretty easy travel this trip. We usually get delayed, have trouble getting the rental, etc, but this time, there was no problems at all on the way there (easy, on time flight, easily got our luggage, quickly got our rental, easily found the hotel) & we were only delayed around 30 mins (due to weather in Atlanta) on our flight home. For us, this is monumental & the smoothest trip (flying) we've ever taken together.

Definitely a fun trip. Highly recommend Chicago. However, it was totally freezing the whole time we were there. I mean seriously, the high was in the 30s every day. I personally think that's cold. But we had a great time & were a little sad to come home (although happy about it too).

At any rate, it's bed time. Take care.

It's a Girl!

Just wanted to let everyone know we went to our big ultrasound today & have a healthy baby girl! We are so excited!! :) She is doing great, measured on schedule & weighed 12 ounces. Will have the report from the radiologist hopefully next week, but the Tech said as far as she could tell, she looked great!

We then went to register at Babies R Us - What an experience! That store is seriously insane. We actually only took around an hour and a half, but David was beat & ready to go! There are just so many things such a little person apparently needs! lol

Busy weekend ahead: Tomorrow we are going to our nephew's 2nd birthday party! It should be loads of fun. Sunday will be church & family stuff. Hopefully somewhere in there, we'll get the Christmas stuff out of the attic & start putting some of it out. Also, we need to start working on the baby's room & picking out names! So much to do!

Next week, we head to Chicago on Wednesday to enjoy Thanksgiving just the two of us. We can't wait for our vacation! We will return on Monday & head back to work/school on Tuesday! If anyone is from the Chicago area, what would you recommend we do?

Hope everyone has a super weekend!

Poll: Boy or Girl?

Alright, so there isn't a prize or anything, but I thought maybe it'd be fun for everyone to vote on whether they think Baby is a boy or girl. We have our BIG ultrasound on Friday, where we will *hopefully* find out Baby's gender (if Baby is cooperative).

Ok, so vote in the comments. Voting ends Friday at 10am EST. Our appt is at 1:30pm on Friday, so I will update Friday evening.

Thanks :)

Crap, I suck

I really should not be allowed to have an online blog thingy. For realz.

However, no news is generally good news, right? Baby is good. *Hopefully* finding out the sex on November 16th! Woo-hoo!

School is same. I'm making due. Can't wait till I graduate in December. So nice to have a BS degree that I may never use. O-well.

Been busy with celebrating everyone & their mothers birthdays since mid-September: Martha Jane, My mom, Valerie, Jamie, Mike, Me, my husband (David), Lee, Chris, Sharon.... and I feel like I'm forgetting people. I mean seriously, there are a heck of a lot of bdays in the fall!

In other news, yes, my birthday & my husband's were both very nice. Thanks for asking ;)

Oh guess what! Some RETARD decided to steal our credit card number & charge a $2800 flight on our card! How loverly. And we just found out on Saturday, even though the transaction was made on October 22. You'd think the credit card company (which shall remain nameless) were used to us making purchases this large, however I can assure you, they are NOT. UGH. I'm sorry, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened & I'm sorry that it really makes me mad that some people are so DISHONEST. Who are these people's parents??!! Seriously!! And you'd think they'd be smarter than to buy a plane ticket in their own name.... Whatever... I just hope **** will actually investigate this time.

We're going to see White Christmas this week with a bunch of my family! I'm pretty excited about it, it'll make Christmas feel even sooner (and will remind me that I REALLY need to start with the shopping! UGH) My inlaws need to draw names like yesterday.

Also, what do you think? We always put up our Christmas tree right around Thanksgiving, but this year, we are going to Chicago over the holiday. We will be gone Wednesday to Monday. If it were you, would you put the tree up early or would you wait until you get home from vacation? Obviously, it's an artificial tree... And I do love Christmas, so I have no problem with putting it up early. I mean, I usually put it up on the early side (Thanksgiving) anyway.

More later. :)

14 Weeks!

I'm 14 weeks pregnant as of yesterday. I went to the dr this week & everything went well. I got to hear Baby's heartbeat on the doppler on my stomach, which was really cool. They said baby is very healthy & I'm very normal. *Whew!*

I started wearing more maternity clothes this week. My pants are all getting tight, so I had to buy new. But maternity pants are weird on top, so I've started wearing more maternity shirts because they're a lot longer. Very weird!

School is going, but I'm definitely slacking. I need to get caught back up on reading & such. I did so well at first & now I'm really behind :( I guess this means I need to stop being on the computer so much? Bummer...

Oh, I got an early birthday present yesterday (my birthday isn't till the end of October) & part of it was onesies! They are SOOO cute!! They are gender neutral (of course) but SUPER cute & soft! I can't believe we'll soon have a baby that will fit into these!!

Alive :)

So I've made it through my first test in every class. Lowest grade was an 80. Needless to say, I was very pleased. I think I've gotten off to a good start for my final semester. Graduation in December can't come fast enough!!

Baby is doing well. Today I am 12 weeks 6 days pregnant. Last week, I noticed that my stomach is starting to get hard a couple inches below my belly button! It's the baby!! hehe. I'm hoping morning sickness is on it's way out. I'm supposed to feel better in the 2nd trimester (which starts next week), so I'm hoping it goes away completely. I'm supposed to get more energy too....which means maybe my house will be clean some day!! :) I go to the doctor on Tuesday, so hopefully they'll only have good things to say.

David & I are addicted to The Office. We currently do not have cable tv, but are getting it very soon. I heard the season started last night, so DON'T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED. We just finished watching season 3, which we rented from Blockbuster, but David's brother recorded the first episode for us (plus, we can watch it online). Anyway, I'm very anxious to find out what happened.

We're planning on taking a vacation in November to Chicago. We wanted to go somewhere colder, so figure it's a good place for that. Plus, I've never been & David hasn't been in a long time. We are definitely looking forward to it because it will be our last vacation before the baby comes. So if anyone is familiar with Chicago or has visited recently, please give us some ideas of some fun things to do!

I'm on a break between classes, but am about to have to start walking over. Have a super day!

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Alright, I'm back...

School started a couple weeks ago. Needless to say, life has gotten pretty hectic. Baby coming. Final semester of college. Yikes!

Baby is doing well. I went to the doctor again two weeks ago & everything looks great! I was too early to hear the heartbeat on the doppler (I was 9 weeks 3 days), so I got to have another ultrasound. Heartbeat is strong & baby is growing right on schedule. Picture is really blurry & you can't see anything, so I'm not going to post this one.

School is ok so far. I have one pretty hard class, but the first test is this Friday, so I'm going to study pretty hard & see how I do (hopefully really well). The other classes I'm not really worried about. I've been doing a pretty good job of keeping up with everything....hopefully that'll last all semester.

Going to school is wearing me out though. I've been so tired & when I get home I usually lay around (& eat a snack!!) Working on the computer for very long makes me sick, so I try to limit how long I'm on at a time. I'm hoping once I get to the 2nd trimester (soon!!) I'll start feeling more like myself. Morning sickness has been kicking my butt off & on since about 6 1/2 weeks. I'm currently 11 weeks 4 days pregnant & around 13 weeks I'll be considered in the 2nd trimester. Woo-hoo!!

Over Labor Day weekend, we went to Kansas & Missouri to visit David's two sets of grandparents. Did you know it takes 12 hours driving to get to Kansas City? Well, it does. And when you're pregnant & have to stop a lot, it ends up taking over 14 hours to get there. Ugh. Needless to say, I was exhausted, even days after we made it home. I was achy & tired & just felt BAD. Not a good idea to drive that far when you're pregnant. Just word to the wise. If we make the trip again while I'm pregnant we will either a) stop in a hotel overnight on the way up & back or b) fly!

At any rate, it was good to see David's grandparents. One set is doing really well & really seemed to enjoy us being there. They took us to lots of places to eat (yay!) and drove us around where they grew up, showing us where their houses were & who lived where & the house they got married in next to the church they went to. We also played some games of Skip-O, which was very fun. It was really sweet & we definitely enjoyed seeing them. We also got to see David's uncle, aunt, & cousins who live nearby, which was very fun.

David's other set of grandparents aren't doing quite as well. They are having trouble getting around, so they are looking into moving into an assisted living type of arrangement. We visited with them a lot and played Phase 10. David's grandpa got me to sing with him on the phone to his brother! His poor brother!! We also got to see another set of David's uncle, aunt, & cousin as well as David's great aunt & great uncle. It really was good to see all of them.

We really were glad we got to see everyone, but hopefully next time, I'll have an easier time getting up there!

I've got to start studying for my test, but I'll write again soon.
Take care,
Megan

Explaining My Absence

So I'm pretty used to explaining myself. I am always one to give too much info. So here goes:

I haven't updated because I have had exciting news, but I wasn't ready to share it yet. But....I think I can now :)

I'm pregnant!

Yup, I really am. :) Yes, we're really happy & excited. Yes, everything looks healthy. The due date is March 29, 2008. I'm 6 weeks 6 days tomorrow.

So yeah, I am really bad at secrets. So here's probably TMI. Anyway, my period was late...but I felt like I was going to start at any moment. So I wait & wait & never start. There was one point when I spotted a little, but in hindsight, it was "implantation bleeding." And I was crampy & my back hurt all the time & I broke out in acne - my face, plus my shoulder which NEVER has happened before :( And I had really bad heartburn. However, I still thought I would start my period at any second. But, I guess I never did.

So, David & I went on date night to see the movie No Reservations (which is really cute btw) and as soon as we got home, I ran upstairs & took the home pregnancy test. And wouldn't you know? It was Positive. David was by that time in the next room, so I ran in there holding the test & said look at this! And he was like, is this for real?? It was real cute :)

I made a doctors appt for the next Friday, which explains my absence, since I couldn't tell anyone for a WHOLE WEEK. Seriously, I'm basically an open book, so this was exremely hard for me.

On Thursday, my mom totally told me I was pregnant & I was like, dang it! And had to tell her :) She was super excited, but sad that she couldn't tell anyone yet, lol.

Friday, David went with me to the appt. They made us watch this dorky video, took my vitals, did an exam, did an ultrasound(!!!!), and then sent me to get lots of blood taken (8 VIALS!)

However, the appt went really well. She kept telling me everything looked so healthy & then she did the ultrasound. The baby measured 2mm long and was 5 weeks 6 days. And the best part?! The baby's heart was already beating, so we got to see our baby lightning bug! It was awesome!

So on Friday night, we had David's family over to tell them and Saturday, we had my family over. Everyone was happy & said they just knew it! My parents are super excited because this will be their first grandbaby. Once my family knew, we began telling basically everyone.

So yeah, that's pretty much why I haven't updated in awhile. I'm real sorry, but I'm sure you understand. And to make things better, I'll put up the baby's first picture!!! Enjoy :) And I promise to update more regularly very soon :)

This one's for Valerie

I promise I will update soon. A lot of things have been going on, so I have much to update about! :) Good things too :)
So check back soon!

I suck

This week has been hectic!

I've been hanging out quite a bit with my mom since she just had surgery. She is doing really well & even started driving again this week, which is great.

My classes are almost over for the summer & then I will have a 2 week break! Then it will be my very last semester of college & I will graduate in December! Woo-hoo! Anyway, this coming week is finals, but I'm not sure yet if I'm taking any (they are both optional). I've taken two classes this summer, and one I like my grade fine, so I'm not taking the final. The other prof hasn't posted final grades yet, but is supposed to sometime today. Hopefully, I'll like that grade too & really have 3 weeks off instead of just 2!

So, my car is sick. On Tuesday, I took my mom to Hallmark, Pier 1, & then Walgreens. In the Walgreens parking lot, my car got very sick. It was kind of stuck just before 1st gear. Obviously a transmission problem, but my dad was able to help us get it home by skipping 1st gear & going straight into 2nd, 3rd, & 4th (my car is automatic, but you can shift, I guess). I guess it ran fine in the other gears, but I can't drive my car like this, plus it would probably make it get worse. So we took it to a transmission place & they are going to fix it. Apparently it's a computer problem or something. But all that really matters, I guess, is that it's fixed. It's going to cost me a lot (& I just spent a lot on my dumb car 2 weeks ago - a new timing belt & a new cv joint). Which makes me extra mad. I wish I could get a new car!! :(

Enjoy your weekend!

The NEW World of Coca Cola

So 2 weeks ago, when David's cousins were in town, I went with them down to the new Coke Museum. It was really cool.

First, you go into this holding room with all these coke signs on the walls.

Then you watch this cute little movie where they tell you what happens inside a coke machine. Then the characters in the movie do a little "documentary" about their life working for coke. It's real cute.

Then you go upstairs into this big open area and there's cool murals on the walls.

Then go go into all these little rooms with artwork and cars and old coke machines & such.

There was one room with Andy Warhol coke art. There was also a room that was totally decorated in coke stuff.

Not only is there artwork & old coke ads & a mini coke bottler, there's a 4D movie. You wear 3D glasses & then sit in chairs that move around, you get water splashed on you, feel wind in your face, etc. It was probably our very favorite part.

And last, but not least, the guys who I took there!

Surgery

My mom had surgery yesterday. She did great & is supposed to come home today. She's still feeling kind of sick, but hopefully they'll give her a different medicine to help with that.

Also, I had a test today. I know I did really bad. All I can hope for is that I guessed close on the free response questions & am able to get some partial credit. Ugh.

So yeah, I will update soon.

St Augustine, Florida

So we went to Florida! And we made it home! And we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary! Woo-hoo!

Now, it's time for you to hear about our trip & get bored with pictures! Aren't you the lucky one?

Friday we left for Florida at 2:30pm. We drove & drove. I had to pee & we were hungry & grouchy on this road called I-10 forever because there are basically no stops between Valdosta, GA & Jacksonville, FL....who knew?

Then we hit the oasis, known as Zaxby's. We both got in much better spirits & got back in the car. We made it to our hotel just before 9pm, which is basically really good time.

We stayed in the World Of Golf Village. No, we don't golf. But, it was really pretty there. And we got a pretty good deal on our hotel room! And the room was really nice! Yay!

Ok, so then we slept in & got up in time for lunch at the Sonny's BBQ. Because what trip isn't complete without BBQ? David learned the hard way that you should never order water in a restaurant in Florida. Oopsies.

Then we decided to drive to Historic St Augustine. We drove around a little, trying to figure out where we were & trying to find a place to park. We finally found a big parking deck with visiter information. We got a map & then it started raining. We decided to catch a free shuttle to this really cool old hotel which now holds Flagler College.

Outside the old hotel

The ceiling inside the hotel. It's handpainted.

Us.

So basically, I went very light showing you pictures of the hotel. But seriously, it's very impressive. And students actually go to school here! They walk in this hotel every day! They eat in a beautiful room with handpainting & tiffany stained glass windows! Seriously, the girls dorm is upstairs! Ok, I got a little excited.

Next, we walked down this touristy street & got ice cream (me) & coffee (David). We walked back to the parking deck & decided to head to the oldest house.

This house is the oldest house in St Augustine. The bottom part was built by a Spanish family & is around 270 years old. The top part was added later by an English family, & is also very old.

Here's the outside of the house.

Ok, so here's really my favorite part of the oldest house. Isn't this a great tree?

Ok, so after all that, we went & played Minature Golf. Because we are really that cool.

And it had a really cool Pirate Ship!!

There were also lots of lizards around. And there was a mama duck & her three baby ducklings! They were so cute!

Ok, so then we went to dinner at Longhorn because we are so original. Then went to the pool at the hotel & then got in the hot tub.

Sunday, we got up, had McDonald's for breakfast, ran by Publix to get magazines & bottled water & hit the beach!

That's us at the beach. It took me 4 tries to get both our whole faces in the picture. That's why I'm laughing.

We spent a couple hours at the beach & it was really really hot. Then, up came a thunder storm. We luckily headed out before it hit us, but we could see it coming down the beach.

We stopped by Pizza Hut on the way back to the hotel. Eating at Pizza Hut when we're out of town is kind of an unoffical tradition for us. Because, that's how cool we are.

Went back to the hotel to clean up. Drove around Jacksonville for awhile then had dinner at this place kind of like Moe's called Qoaba or something. It was good though. Then we went to see Oceans 13, which was really good. Stopped to get ice cream at Marble Slab & then headed back to the hotel.

Monday morning, we got up at 8:45, showered, & pulled out of the hotel parking lot by around 10am. Made a gas/lunch stop & were home around 4.

So yes, we had a super trip. I'm very impressed if you made it all the way to the boring end. I feel like I should give you a cookie or something ;)

We're home!

We made it back today around 4:15pm, thank goodness! We've hung out & done laundry all afternoon, went to Italian for dinner, & are about to watch a movie. What a great way to end our anniversary weekend.

Expect an update (with Pictures!!) tomorrow!

We're on vacay!

Sorry about the lack of posts this week. Its been busy & I've been lazy. I'm terribly sorry about that.

David's cousins were in town this week & Wednesday I played tourguide & took them downtown to see the new coke museum. I will update more about that soon (with pictures!)

In the meantime, David & I are on vacation for our 2nd anniversary (which is actually on Monday). We went to St Augustine, FL for a long weekend. I promise to post pictures from vacay next week too.

Thunder

It's thundering outside of my house today. It's finally really raining. The past couple weeks we've had annoying rain, but not real rain. Welcome to summertime in Georgia.

I love rain, I always have. I know sometimes rain can be a downer, but as long as I don't have something important planned for outdoors, I welcome it. Rain to me means staying inside, cuddling up with your hunny, & watching a movie. It means reading a good book & finally getting to use your cute polka dotted umbrella. I always get the best sleep when it's raining. I wake up in the middle of the night & hear the rain pattering on my roof & I smile to myself & curl back up in bed.

I knew it was threatening to rain all afternoon. There was a big gray cloud overhead when I was heading home from school. When I got home, I kept peaking out our front door, waiting in anticipation for it to start. When it finally did, I felt a load lifted off me & I opened our storm door a little so I could smell the new rain.

I love rain.

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

I just love the Beatles...

Good news! I finally decided to associate each song/album I have on iTunes with an album cover. This is most exciting on my iPhone. I can see all the album covers when I'm picking what I wanna listen to. I know this doesn't sound exciting, but if I showed it to you, I promise you'd be impressed.

I met a friend's new man today. He's super nice. I hope he gets along well with my hubby & that there are many double/triple dates in our future.

David bought these.... putty things.... to mold around his earbuds. I helped him do them tonight. They are like silly putty or something, but they form & harden around his earbuds so that they stay in his ears better. I'm not sure why he has such problems, but he does. They're pretty cool, though, just weird.

So I'm very sad with blogger today. I found the blogger to go thingy where you take a picture on your phone & send a text or email to blogger & they post it to your blog for you. Apparently, my phone isn't supported yet. I was bummed because I figured that would be a real good way for me to post a fun picture everyday. It's usually a lot of work for me to post pictures. But really, I'm pretty lazy.

Remember those curtains I said I was going to make? I'm still going to make them.... just this coming week. And there will be pictures. Promise.

In closing, David emailed me this crazy video today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8MDNFaGfT4 It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Don't ask, lol.

Annoyed

My parents & brother have been out of town all week & are flying home today. My brother's (not) girlfriend was taking care of the cat & dog.

I go to their house today to help clean, turn down the ac, & change sheets (because I'm the best daughter ever) & try to go in through the garage like we always do.

There's a door to the house from the garage. This door never is locked, except at night when everyone is home. However, today, this door is locked.

So needless to say, someone mistakenly locked the door from the garage to the house. And, being a logical family, no one has a key to the front door or garage door except the people who are flying across country.

It wouldn't be so bad, but I had to drive all the way over there & gas is expensive & I live like 20 mins away. I'm rather perturbed.

So, I guess you can say they are coming home to a dirty, hot house. That sucks.

Misc Nonsense

I've been playing with my iPhone too much to update my blog. How does that work? I have no idea....

iPhone still rocks. I keep showing it to people & they keep being impressed. Don't believe all the negative you hear - it's just from people who don't have one yet!

David shaved off his beard & got his head buzzed. He looks different, but in a good way. He's so cute :)

I was going to make curtains today, but then didn't feel like it. Hopefully I will on Friday.

My butt hurts....don't ask.

My July 4th is going to be spent sleeping in with the hubby, shopping with the Nene (my grandmother), & eating steak on my patio. I have a $10 off at New York & Co, I'm way excited. And David told me to buy him soap at Bath & Body Works. I love shopping. I should really be a professional shopper.

Is there really such a thing as a professional shopper? Because, I'm serious, I could totally do that. I'm good at picking clothes and accessories out for people & I'm real good at justifying purchases..just ask the hubby!

Happy 4th!

We got it!

I had planned to go to the at&t store around 4:30 yesterday to get in line for my iPhone. Martha Jane came over yesterday morning to help me work on my new curtains, but we needed to run by home depot first. We decided to drive by at&t first and there were already people in line.

We ran by the ATM and went back to AT&T. Martha Jane stood in line for David since he had to work all day-what an awesome friend!! We got in line around 10:30 & waited until 6 with a couple potty breaks. David got there at 5:30 & Martha Jane got to leave (she was very happy).

At 6 they finally opened the doors & we got to get our new phones. We both got 8gbs like we wanted since we were 9 &10 in line.

Last night we set them up & it was love at first sight, no joke! I am even posting with it now, although slowly!

All I can say is that it is totally worth it!

iPhone Hysteria

My husband is in love with the iPhone. He's been lusting over it for months, ever since it was announced. We even changed over to The New At&t because of that pesky phone, breaking our prior contract & having to pay....well, a lot of money.

When we signed up at at&t, they had a waiting list of the iPhone. I decided to get one too...he convinced me of it's awesomeness.

Then, one day, it happened. At&t called us both telling us that they were taking away the iPhone waiting list & that corporate said they could have one.

Oh the pain! The heartache! Now we have to get the iPhone the same way as everyone else!

I'm planning to get in line around 4:30 this afternoon. David is going to the store close to where he works (in the middle of nowhere) in hopes that he'll be able to get his phone.

If David didn't have a real job, I honestly believe he'd have been in line since Monday, like those crazies in NYC.

I'm seriously insane

Yesterday & today, I painted. I wish I could say it was a nice piece of art or some such nonsense, but it wasn't. I painted my kitchen.

My kitchen used to be a bright sunny yellow. My husband hated it as soon as he put it on the walls. He tried to talk me out of it & even muted the color without telling me. I loved it & told him we could never change it.

Fast-forward 2 years. The yellow is seriously starting to get on my nerves. I feel stuck in a decortating rut, so I decide to paint the kitchen. I head over to the local Home Depot & pick up like 30 color swatches. I decide I want to go with something in the tan family. I pick a color called Raffia Cream. Sounds good, right?

My husband David tells me that I have to paint the ceiling before I paint the walls. So I do that yesterday afternoon. It took me about 3 hours.

Today, my friend Martha Jane came over & helped me paint. I started trimming around 10am and she got there with lunch at 11:30. We started painting again soon after lunch & finished up around 2:30 or 3. Which seriously, is really fast. The rolled part only took 1 coat, although the trim did take 2. I was really proud of us. I've never painted anything on my own before.

So, all that work & guess what. I think the color is too light. What do you think?

I think the problem is all the white: trim, cabinets. It's just so white! It is starting to grow on me now that I have all my stuff back in there. When I first finished I decided I had the most blah kitchen in the world.

I think it will help when I make curtains with this fabric I bought today. I'm also going to recover the french memo board with it.

David said he liked it, but if we live with it awhile & I still hate it, we can repaint. Good thing paint's cheap!
