St Augustine, Florida

So we went to Florida! And we made it home! And we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary! Woo-hoo!

Now, it's time for you to hear about our trip & get bored with pictures! Aren't you the lucky one?

Friday we left for Florida at 2:30pm. We drove & drove. I had to pee & we were hungry & grouchy on this road called I-10 forever because there are basically no stops between Valdosta, GA & Jacksonville, FL....who knew?

Then we hit the oasis, known as Zaxby's. We both got in much better spirits & got back in the car. We made it to our hotel just before 9pm, which is basically really good time.

We stayed in the World Of Golf Village. No, we don't golf. But, it was really pretty there. And we got a pretty good deal on our hotel room! And the room was really nice! Yay!

Ok, so then we slept in & got up in time for lunch at the Sonny's BBQ. Because what trip isn't complete without BBQ? David learned the hard way that you should never order water in a restaurant in Florida. Oopsies.

Then we decided to drive to Historic St Augustine. We drove around a little, trying to figure out where we were & trying to find a place to park. We finally found a big parking deck with visiter information. We got a map & then it started raining. We decided to catch a free shuttle to this really cool old hotel which now holds Flagler College.

The ceiling inside the hotel. It's handpainted.

Us.

So basically, I went very light showing you pictures of the hotel. But seriously, it's very impressive. And students actually go to school here! They walk in this hotel every day! They eat in a beautiful room with handpainting & tiffany stained glass windows! Seriously, the girls dorm is upstairs! Ok, I got a little excited.

Next, we walked down this touristy street & got ice cream (me) & coffee (David). We walked back to the parking deck & decided to head to the oldest house.

This house is the oldest house in St Augustine. The bottom part was built by a Spanish family & is around 270 years old. The top part was added later by an English family, & is also very old.

Here's the outside of the house.

Ok, so here's really my favorite part of the oldest house. Isn't this a great tree?

Ok, so after all that, we went & played Minature Golf. Because we are really that cool.

And it had a really cool Pirate Ship!!

There were also lots of lizards around. And there was a mama duck & her three baby ducklings! They were so cute!

Ok, so then we went to dinner at Longhorn because we are so original. Then went to the pool at the hotel & then got in the hot tub.

Sunday, we got up, had McDonald's for breakfast, ran by Publix to get magazines & bottled water & hit the beach!

That's us at the beach. It took me 4 tries to get both our whole faces in the picture. That's why I'm laughing.

We spent a couple hours at the beach & it was really really hot. Then, up came a thunder storm. We luckily headed out before it hit us, but we could see it coming down the beach.

We stopped by Pizza Hut on the way back to the hotel. Eating at Pizza Hut when we're out of town is kind of an unoffical tradition for us. Because, that's how cool we are.

Went back to the hotel to clean up. Drove around Jacksonville for awhile then had dinner at this place kind of like Moe's called Qoaba or something. It was good though. Then we went to see Oceans 13, which was really good. Stopped to get ice cream at Marble Slab & then headed back to the hotel.

Monday morning, we got up at 8:45, showered, & pulled out of the hotel parking lot by around 10am. Made a gas/lunch stop & were home around 4.

So yes, we had a super trip. I'm very impressed if you made it all the way to the boring end. I feel like I should give you a cookie or something ;)
