We're home!

Chicago was wonderful! We really had the best time. Except it was totally freezing the whole time, but whatever.

We flew in Wednesday night & quickly got our rental (with GPS!) & headed off to our hotel. We stayed on the Riverwalk & it was really pretty & a nice view from our window.

Thursday, Thanksgiving, we took it easy. We walked to breakfast in the snow, which was beautiful. It snowed most of the day on Thursday. We drove to Indiana (about an hour away) to see where my husband was born & lived until he finished 1st grade & moved to Atlanta. We saw his old house, his elementary school, & places he used to go. We then went to The Dunes, which is by Lake Michigan. Did you know Lake Michigan looks like the ocean? Because seriously, I sure didn't. I was very impressed & the dunes were really neat.

Friday, we walked from our hotel to The Sears Tower & went up in it. It was a really pretty day, so we were able to see a lot of the city from up above. On our walk back, we went to Millennium Park which has all sorts of interesting art sculptures outside. There were actually a few metal pieces that we saw on our honeymoon in upstate NY two years ago. Then we drove around a lot.

Saturday, we took the Free Trolley! to the Field Museum of Natural History. It is a HUGE museum, but our favorite parts were the animals & Sue. Sue is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found. We bought Baby a "Sue" t-shirt. Then we drove around some & caught a movie (Dan In Real Life--very very good).

Sunday, I was feeling sick, so we kept it pretty low key. We drove to a park outside the city & saw more of the big lake. Drove around a bunch that day. Ended up seeing another movie (Beowulf in 3D) & headed back to the hotel. We saw a few more snowflakes in the parking lot at the theater.

Monday, we sadly flew home. We actually had pretty easy travel this trip. We usually get delayed, have trouble getting the rental, etc, but this time, there was no problems at all on the way there (easy, on time flight, easily got our luggage, quickly got our rental, easily found the hotel) & we were only delayed around 30 mins (due to weather in Atlanta) on our flight home. For us, this is monumental & the smoothest trip (flying) we've ever taken together.

Definitely a fun trip. Highly recommend Chicago. However, it was totally freezing the whole time we were there. I mean seriously, the high was in the 30s every day. I personally think that's cold. But we had a great time & were a little sad to come home (although happy about it too).

At any rate, it's bed time. Take care.
